Cliff Screamer

Been practicing something other than digimon, and decided to give this dragon I designed a while back a try. I'm considering opening commissions for illustrations like this, so please let me know if you like the style.

The dragon here is a breed I designed with coloration based off the Wall Creeper - it's a gorgeous bird that I didn't know existed until I was looking for color references of birds that lived in canyons, go look it up.

Anyway, the breed lives in canyons and nests in the crags and caves found therein. During warmer months they fish for most of their food and occasionally snack on local berries. During colder months they sleep more often and are more likely to look at larger, land-based animals as prey. They are very quiet, both on the ground and in the air, making them formidable ambush predators when the time arises. However, they are capable of screaming at a painfully high volume, deafening those who threaten their nests, often setting the intruder off balance and leading them to fall to their doom - if the Screamer doesn't take care of them themselves. It is possible for one of these screams to trigger rock slides, though Cliff Screamers are very selective in choosing their nests for stability and as such their homes are rarely the victims. It has been rumored that they are capable of using echolocation, but there is no confirmation on this ability.
